The Courtyard is situated at the back of the house, and can be seen through the kitchen window. It is a large spacious area, with a cobbled stone flooring. Once used as Tacking Rooms and Stables, the original sheds, with beautiful old brick work surround the courtyard on all sides. There are plans to develop the courtyard into another dining/party area, with the existing yard buildings being converted into kitchens, bars and toilets. The Courtyard itself will be roofed and will be similar to a marquee, but with the added benefit of incorporating the outdoors indoors.
All the original features are very much intact and visible such as the Wash Room, in which there is a Georgian wash rack and fire. From the courtyard the Basement bar can be accessed; The original stone stairs from the courtyard to the basement were once for the servants, and are now used as an entrance to the Basement Bar. When the basement bar is hired out as its own venue, entrance is through this courtyard, which also doubles as a smoking area.
At present, the courtyard is a casual space, where guests lounge on garden chairs and enjoy the heat in this sun trap.
