The Very Reverend Henry Dawson was Dean of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral for 12 years in the mid-19th century. He was born on 23 December 1792.
He died on 24 October 1840 at the age of 47, of a fever caught while visiting sick people in a poor mining parish in Co. Kilkenny. The Very Rev. Henry Richard Dawson graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, with a Bachelor of Arts. He held the office of Dean of St. Patrick's between 1828 and 1840.
He reputedly resided for a time at Trudder Lodge and it was believed that he instructed the construction of the house, as a Hunting Lodge. He used Trudder Lodge as a social meeting point for his acquaintances.
